A new file service needs low fixed costs and no infrastructure to babysit — which points at a flat-fee managed cloud portal rather than self-hosting or a four-figure setup fee. Bensky has the longest track record with large UK networks and publishes an extensive client roster; its pricing reflects that position. RemapDash migrates established services free — accounts, dealer tiers and credit balances — so switching cost is lower than it looks. The honest question is whether the premium platform's extras justify roughly four times the monthly spend for your particular volume.
Bensky and MyTuningPortal both sell WinOLS bots that return matched files from your own tuned database automatically — as paid add-ons, and Ben Sky's is priced on enquiry and only available with their portal. What RemapDash does not do — and this is worth being precise about, because the two get conflated — is let pure AI take a file on its own, with nothing of sufficient quality behind it, and tune it from what it thinks it has learned. No two files are ever quite the same, and a bad automated result ships under your company's name, not the software vendor's. Self-hosted software like TunerSuite Ultra turns the recurring fee into a one-off — and turns you into the sysadmin. Updates, backups, SSL, uptime and attack traffic are yours. A managed cloud portal costs more over time and removes all of it. Most working tuners' hourly rate is better spent on files than servers, but a one-man operation with IT skills can make self-hosting genuinely cheap.
Feature lists converge — everyone has file inboxes, invoicing and dealer pricing. The differences that still matter in daily use: whether lookups and languages are capped or charged (RemapDash includes unlimited UK reg lookups; others cap or charge), whether the mobile app and API cost extra, whether support answers at 9pm on a Friday, and whether the price you saw is the price you pay.
